Product Details

A handsome Arts and Crafts period signet ring, set with a long octagonal tablet of gorgeously spotted Bloodstone or 'Heliotrope' as it used to be known. Bloodstone is a variety of Jasper with iron oxide inclusions which create the 'blood' spatters. In Victorian times these stones were sourced from the mouths of Scottish rivers, and used in jewellery. The style of this wonderful ring is very much of it's time and distinctive in that the Arts and Crafts movement was very much one which was initially centred in the British Isles and praised local products and artisans.

The inside back of the stone holds the inscription 'J,F.McR', marks for 18ct gold and a maker's mark for 'K&Co', indicating William Kilbourne Kay trading as Kay & Co of Shrub Hill, Worcester, 1894-1902. The trefoil cut out sections to each side of the stone are reminiscent of the work of Rennie Mackintosh.

The head of the ring measures 10mm x 14mm, and the shoulders taper from 8mm to 5mm at the back of the band.

A ring size 'S/9/20/60', but sizing to fit is possible.
